Recovery from the Cleft-Lift

Home/Recovery from the Cleft-Lift

Recovery from cleft-lift surgery is quick and easy

Activity

There are no restrictions on basic daily activities after a cleft-lift other than to be careful not have any direct trauma to the incision. This means no contact sports, or any activity where you might fall, for six weeks after the operation. There are no lifting restrictions.

Wound care

Dry dressings need to be changed once a day for a few days. There is a small drain in place for about a week.

Bathing

It is OK to get in a shower after twenty-four hours.

Antibiotics

We give antibiotics for a week after surgery to prevent infection.

Pain

The surgery is done under a general anesthetic with the addition of a long-acting local anesthetic. Analgesics are prescribed post op, but not every patient ends up taking them.

There are NO open wounds, wound vacs, packing or complex dressings.
